Confidence is one of the foundational elements in a child’s growth. If we do this in the right way, then personality development will also happen appropriately. Confident kids are better able to deal with situations like peer pressure, challenges, competition, responsibilities etc. Confidence is not developed overnight but it grows slowly and day by day. In this blog we will share some effective strategies to boost your child’s confidence..
Praise and boost your child’s morale –
Show your child that you love them unconditionally. Tell them that it’s okay to make mistakes, to fall, to fail. Not all days will be the same, you may win some competitions, while some may be hard to crack. But we are with you, no matter what the situation is. Make them believe that you are with them always
Try to praise your kids in front of other parents when the kid is around or if other parents praise your kid then their confidence level will improve significantly

Do Positive Conversation and Stop comparison
We see a lot of parents having negative conversations often with their kids. Saying things like Why did you not score enough in Maths? Why are you not like this child or that child ? Often these conversations get registered in the minds of children and they tend to believe that they aren’t good enough which leads to low self-confidence in kids. You can also use thought of the day
If you are doing this unconsciously to your kids now, then stop doing it immediately and start taking a positive approach towards ensuring the right development of your kid. Start saying – You are doing great ! Next time, we will practice more to secure extra marks! ! This will naturally increase their confidence levels
Give Age Appropriate Challenges to your Child
Depending on which age bracket your child is, try to give them some age appropriate tasks. It could be something like tying your shoelaces to solve this puzzle !!
When the child is doing the task, let them struggle and do it. You can guide them but don’t fix it for them. The confident smile which the kid will have after achieving the task is priceless

Spend Quality Time with your Child
Nothing can replace quality time spent with children. Join them when they are playing, let them lead the game. This will boost their morale and confidence when they win
Talk to them about your day, things which you faced at work, about your challenges and how you overcame them. This will help in preparing their mind subconsciously to overcome their battles.
Teach them about goal setting and how to achieve small goals. Inculcate the feeling of winning but not to bring pride. You can also spend time via bedtime stories, if you want to find some stories then you can look at this
When you give your time to your child, they feel worthy and valued.
Be their Role Model
We parents are children as well. Focus on improving your own confidence. Kids are great observers, they learn by seeing. If you are confident, the child will also turn confident slowly.
Try talking positive things about yourself and your child. Avoid self-criticism in front of your children
Final Thoughts
Confidence is not an overnight game. Building confidence is of utmost importance if you want to raise a confident kid. Right amount of praise, positive communication, spending quality time and showering kids with physical affection can make a child believe in themselves.
So, keep planting and nurturing the seeds of belief in your kid, the magic will happen sooner than you can imagine
