Personality Development Activities for Children



A child undergoes development at various fronts be it emotional, social, physical, mental and cognitive growth. If we parents are able to imbibe the right personality traits in kids, then the child’s personality development will be unimaginable !! In this blog, we are sharing some personality development activities which you can make your child do. By doing these activities, the child will develop confidence, optimism, self-awareness and all other positive traits that can contribute to their overall development..

1. Art and Craft to enhance their imagination 

Give your child “the magic wand”, colors, some A4 size sheets and let them draw their imagination. By engaging in various art and craft activities, children are able to express themselves in a visual way.

2. Engage in outdoor games 

Provide opportunities for children to engage in outdoor games such as cricket, badminton, table tennis or whatever the kid likes. This can build in them a lot of confidence, teamwork, leadership abilities.

3. Storytelling and Creative Writing

Children are natural storytellers, we should encourage them to express themselves through storytelling, either by creating their own stories or narrating whatever they have learnt. 4. Self-awareness programmes 

Introduce self-awareness programmes to your child, such as participating in seminars for stress management, anger management, yoga sessions. Get your child to do deep breathing, physical activities and body stretching. This will make them calmer, enhance their self-awareness, and improve emotional regulation.

5. Volunteering for Social activities

Motivate your child to be a community child. Let them volunteer in social activities, be it planting, cleaning etc. Through this they can learn to help others, fostering empathy, compassion, and a sense of social responsibility.

6. Journaling about their day

Get your child to write how their day was, what good they did, what they could have improved. Did they help anyone today? Did they make a difference in anyone’s life? This can help them in developing empathy, understanding their own emotions and evaluating their behavior.

7. Goal Setting and Creating Action Plans

Ask your child to set goals for themselves. They should make small, realistic, achievable goals so that they can feel the happiness and excitement of achieving the set targets. Once they set a goal, ask them to create an action plan on how they will achieve the goal. This will teach them the importance of perseverance, self-discipline, focus and self-improvement.

By regular implementation of above activities, you will start seeing transformation happen in your child’s personality. The Child will become more confident, start behaving more maturely, they will understand empathy, how to deal with others and many more positive traits.
